Here's the deal, if you type the folowing into a google search box, you'll get 42 in it's calculator, or just click it below:
answer to life, the universe, and everything
Malthe.
I must ask how you discovered this. I wonder if they'll do anything else.
heh, I read it someware, oh yeah they do have something else, if you type
half a cup in teaspoons
You get an other thing
. the answer to everything phrasees is a strange one, but defining words and calculating things is already documented under the help section (if anyone even bothers to read a manual nowadays and perhaps would stop asking the obvious) . anyway, I still miss it when you'd type failure and Bush's biography would be the first result.
what exactly is this for?
For the uninitiated, this is called an easter egg. It's something hidden in a system or program that the developpers put there for fun. At one time there were a bunch of these in windows/98, but I haven't followed them since then.
I'm going to post five that I found on the net as is, without trying to put them in links or anything, as Malth so artfully did in post 1. Be warned, when I tried #3 below my computer went into overdrive and I lost all speech temporarily. So, try these at your own risk; I don't think they are dangerous or anything, just graphical. But, to be on the safe side, I didn't try #5.
Now the list:
"1. Go into Google and type in
the answer to life the universe and everything.
2. Go to the Google home page and type in
xx-klingon,
then hit “I’m feeling lucky.”
3. Go to the Google home page and type in
Google Easter Egg
and hit “I’m feeling lucky.”
4. Go to the Google home page and type in
xx-elmer
and hit “I’m feeling lucky.”
5. Go to Google home page and type in
xx-hacker
and hit “I’m feeling lucky.”
Bob
Oh yeah, the pseudolanguages there are awesome, gotta love the hacker aka 1337 one.
That was fun. 3 didn't work for some reason.
